The exact price depends on the surface condition, accessibility and number of coats. We always visit first for a free inspection and give you a fixed price up front. New-builds (under 2 years old) and commercial spaces carry 21% VAT; in a building with both homes and business space, 9% applies to the residential part only. Repairing wood rot with new wood (an insert or a new sill) is carpentry at 21% VAT.

As a guideline: wall coating starts from €14 per m², exterior window frames from €150 each, and a complete apartment interior is typically €4,500 to €7,500. We always work with a fixed price agreed up front, so no surprises. All prices include 9% VAT for homes older than 2 years.
Do you charge by the hour or a fixed price?
By default always a fixed price agreement on paper before we start. No hourly rate, no extra/less-work discussions afterwards. For very small jobs (e.g. one loose door or radiator) we work on a day rate. You know up front what it costs, no meter running.
What paint do you use?
We work exclusively with professional paint systems from quality brands like Sigma and Sikkens. These coatings give a beautiful, smooth finish and protect your woodwork long-term against the Dutch weather. Colour advice is always included.
Do you work on monumental properties and apartment buildings (VvE)?
Absolutely. We specialise in painting Amsterdam canal houses and apartment buildings (VvE / Homeowners Associations). We have extensive experience with wood rot repair and restoring monumental details.
Is 4Builders a registered and insured company?
Yes, we are a registered Dutch company (Chamber of Commerce no. 99333074) and fully insured with both liability and CAR insurance. You carry no financial risk during the work.
